Stainton Sports and Pinelanders Youth Soccer Club have partnered to conduct a 10 week training program for all coaches within the Club, beginning March 28.  The program will emphasize coaching techniques and methodologies for age specific groups to assist in the development of coaches education.  

Pinelanders Youth Soccer Club was formed in 1971, to promote the game of soccer among the youth of Howell.  Over the years the club has grown along with the town, and now have a membership of nearly 900 players each season.

Coach Moore just completed his sixth year at the helm of the Georgian Court soccer program. Under his leadership the Lions have emerged as a perennial power in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference, most recently competing in the 2010 NCAA Division II National Tournament representing the CACC as tournament champions.

A year after winning its first CACC championship since 2002, the 2009 Lions posted a 15-8 record, which included a share of the CACC regular season title and a return trip to the championship game, ultimately falling to Holy Family University, 1-0.

In 2008, Coach Moore led the squad to their first-ever NCAA Tournament appearance, finishing the season 12-7-5 and ranking in the East region Top 10 for the third year in a row.The season was highlighted by an impressive 15 game unbeaten streak (11-0-4) that included a stunning 1-0 upset of eventual East Regional Finalist University of Bridgeport. 

Moore serves as the Chair of the CACC coaches committee, a member of the NCAA East Regional committee, as well as serves on the ECAC Selection committee. He has been a member of the NSCAA East Regional Poll committee since 2005. 

Jim took over at Georgian Court prior to the 2005 season and immediately begun the process of rebuilding the once proud program. After struggling to a 2-14-1 season in 2005, he returned in 2006 with eleven new players and led the team to an 11-7-3 record. The 8.5 game improvement was the largest in the nation in 2006. For this, Coach Moore was named the Central Athletic Collegiate Conference Coach of the Year. In 2007 the team won a school NCAA record of 14 games and appeared in the ECAC Championship game. 

Since he has taken over the GCU program he has recruited and developed 12 All- CACC players, three Daktronics All East Region players and three Daktronics All- Americans.  

Along with coaching at Georgian Court, Moore will train youth in various capacities at Stainton Sports.  

Before coming to Georgian Court, Moore served as an assistant coach at Bryant University for six seasons. While at Bryant, Moore played a crucial role in turning around a Bulldog program which had not posted a winning season since 1993, helping the team earn its first national ranking and first NCAA Tournament bid in 2001. Bryant won 48 games in four seasons from 2001 to 2004, while Moore was on the staff. 
A 1996 graduate of Providence College, Moore made his first foray into coaching soon after; obtaining an assistant women’s coaching position at his alma mater in 1998. While at Providence, Moore served as a student assistant on the 1993 team that won the Big East Championship and went to the Sweet 16 in the National Tournament. 
Moore has earned both a National and Advanced National License from the NSCAA and has been a member of that organization since 1993. He has also coached the Rhode Island Olympic Developmental Program and in 2005 his U-15 team became the first small state team to make the Regional Final 4. He has also won 3 Rhode Island State Championships with his RI Rays from 2003-2005. 

Paul Kolody (MS, ATC, CSCS, USAW) is a Certified Strength & Conditioning Coach and a Certified Athletic Trainer who possesses a Master's Degree in Exercise Science with over 20 years experience in the field of athletics and sports medicine.  He has trained athletes of all ages and abilities including the youth, high school, college and professional levels. 

Paul served as the certified athletic trainer and strength coach for a minor league baseball team who achieved 5 ALPB Championships since 2001, Somerset Patriots, and most recently held the same position for Sky Blue FC of Women's Professional Soccer.  His knowledge of human movement makes him an expert in helping athletes reach their full potential.

Paul will create and manage sports performance curriculums using his methodologies and theories while implementing them into Stainton Sports individual, group, and team programs.

Ohio Native Shined as a College Player at Texas A&M

Somerset, N.J. (Monday, January 24, 2010) – Sky Blue FC of Women’s Professional Soccer (WPS) solidified its goalkeeping situation today, announcing the addition of free agent netminder Kristin Arnold. The Ohio native will join a highly talented goalkeeping crew for the team, which currently possesses English National Team member Karen Bardsley and former U.S. National Team player Jenni Branam.

“With only two picks in the WPS Draft, we were unable to use one of those selections on a goalkeeper. However, Kristin was definitely our top choice when it came to the position,” Sky Blue FC head coach Jim Gabarra stated of the Texas A&M senior. “Luckily, we managed to get through the draft with her still available. As soon as the draft ended, I spoke to Rick (Stainton, assistant coach) and said ‘let’s get her on the phone and offer her a contract.’ She was very grateful for the opportunity and will be a very good fit to fill out our goalkeeping corps.”

Arnold was an immediate starter when she arrived at Texas A&M in 2006, starting 23 matches during her freshman season and leading the Big 12 with eight shutouts. Her stellar season led to a number of accolades which included a first team nod to the Soccer Buzz Freshmen All-America Team. She followed that year up with a standout sophomore campaign, posting a league best seven shutouts and receiving All-Big 12 First Team honors. Heading into her junior season, Arnold spent time in camp with both the U-20 and U-23 U.S. National Teams, and she also made her U-23 debut in a game against Northern Ireland. As the fall approached, the skillful goalkeeper was named to the MAC Hermann Trophy Watch List, but her season would be cut short when she sustained a knee injury in an early match opposite North Carolina.

Arnold then returned the following year after receiving a medical red shirt and recorded a league-high nine shutouts in 2009. She also backstopped the Aggies to a Sweet 16 appearance in the NCAA College Cup, posting a season-high seven saves in a razor thin loss against Florida State in double overtime. Texas A&M again reached the postseason this past fall, and Arnold turned in eight saves in her final college game, a second round pairing with Minnesota.

“In this sport, we always talk about the four pillars of soccer, and Kristin fits the bill in each of them,” assistant coach Rick Stainton said. “Technically, she is very sound. Tactically, she is very aware. Psychologically, she is very focused. Physically, she may be listed at six-foot, but she plays like she is 6-5 or 6-6. She already has all the tools, and now we just have to implement her into our style and existing corps. Without question, Kristin will certainly be an asset for us.”

Sky Blue FC General Manager Gioia DiFlumeri also confirmed the organization’s happiness with having Arnold on board.

“Kristin is a welcome addition to our team,” she remarked. “We are in a great position in terms of our goalkeeping situation, and we will have a very competitive atmosphere at training as a result. That will only make all three goalkeepers raise their level of play, which will surely translate to team success on the field.”

Somerset, N.J. (Thursday, December 23, 2010) – Sky Blue FC of Women’s Professional Soccer (WPS) announced today that it has signed forward Casey Nogueira, who was a first round selection in the 2010 WPS Draft. The former North Carolina standout brings additional goal scoring talents to the New Jersey club, tallying 10 points during her 2010 rookie campaign with the Chicago Red Stars.

“Casey is one of the best attacking players currently available,” Sky Blue FC head coach Jim Gabarra stated. “She can turn the game with a moment of brilliance, and we are fortunate to be able to add her to our roster. I look forward to seeing her on a daily basis rather than have to find a way to defend her as an opponent."

Gabarra holds a special connection to the Nogueira family, playing professionally with her father, Victor, as a member of the San Diego Sockers in the Major Indoor Soccer League (MISL) from 1989-1991 and the Milwaukee Wave of the National Professional Soccer League (NPSL) from 1992-93. The duo also won an MISL Championship together when they brought the league crown to San Diego in 1991.

When she played college soccer at the University of North Carolina, Nogueira was a member of two NCAA College Cup Championship sides in 2006 and 2008. The 2008 season was her junior year of play, and the San Diego native led the Tar Heels by registering 21 goals. She also tallied a pair of scores in the NCAA Championship Game that year in a 2-1 win over the University of Notre Dame. Nogueira was then the eighth overall selection by the Los Angeles Sol in the 2010 WPS Draft before moving to the Chicago Red Stars when the Sol closed operations. She made her professional debut against Sky Blue FC in its 2010 season opener, eventually recording three goals and four assists during her time in the Windy City. Nogueira has also made an impression on the international scene, tallying her first of five total caps with the U.S. National Team in 2007.

Somerset, N.J. (Wednesday, December 22, 2010) – Sky Blue FC of Women’s Professional Soccer (WPS) announced today the signing of two-time Swedish Player of the Year Therese Sjögran, who will join the team on loan from Damallsvenskan club LdB FC Malmö. The loan is part of an official affiliation agreement between Sky Blue FC and LdB FC Malmö that was formalized this week, and future terms of the partnership will be announced in the upcoming weeks.

"Therese Sjögran was one of the first players who I pursued the minute I accepted the Sky Blue FC head coaching position,” said Jim Gabarra, who took over the reins of the New Jersey club in October. “I believe that she will be one of the top midfielders in WPS. Her career achievements have been consistently exceptional, culminating in being named the Swedish Female Footballer of the Year."

Sjögran, who has appeared in over 200 matches for the Swedish National Team, led LdB FC Malmö to its first Damallsvenskan Championship in 16 years this past season. For her efforts, she received Swedish Female Player of the Year accolades for the second time in her professional career. Her first selection of the acclaimed distinction came in 2007, following a standout season that saw her also secure Midfielder of the Year honors. Additionally, the international mainstay has represented her nation in three separate FIFA Women’s World Cups and Olympic Games.

“I am extremely happy that LdB FC and Sky Blue FC have found this solution for me,” Sjögran commented. “This is something I have wanted for a long time, and LdB FC has supported me through the process. The decision fell on Sky Blue FC, thanks to Jim Gabarra’s interest in me as a player, as well as both organizations’ desire to cooperate. Now I get the opportunity to play professional soccer, World Cup, Damallsvenska game and Champions League all in one year. I look forward towards 2011 and the challenges that lay ahead.”

The loan of Sjögran officially kicks off the affiliation agreement between Sky Blue FC and LdB FC Malmö, something that Gabarra was thrilled to see become a reality.

“Sky Blue FC is elated to partner with LdB FC Malmö and create this pioneering affiliation agreement,” he stated. “This is, if not the first, surely one of the first affiliation agreements between an established international club and a WPS club. We look forward to developing and growing this relationship so that both clubs and women's football can continue to grow and achieve."

Six Teams will have Four Rounds to Select the Best Talent out of College

SAN FRANCISCO (Dec. 15, 2010) – Women’s Professional Soccer (WPS) announced today that its 2011 WPS Draft has been scheduled at 1pm ET on Friday, January 14th during the 2011 NSCAA Convention in Baltimore, Md. WPS fans around the country will have the chance to follow their favorite team’s selections in real time via a live league webcast from Baltimore, Maryland, on www.WomensProSoccer.com, the first time ever that the league has webcast its annual college draft.

The draft will start with Western New York Flash having the first pick in 2011 and will continue for four rounds of selections by the six WPS teams. As an expansion team, the Western New York Flash will also receive a supplemental pick at the end of the first round.

The live webcast will include chats, interviews and analysis from WPS experts for fans to follow along. The draft room itself will be open to league officials, teams and media with the public able to catch all the action on the web. The two previous No. 1 selections include Amy Rodriguez in 2009 out of USC and Tobin Heath in 2010 from the University of North Carolina. The league will post the top five prospects at all four positions (GK, D, MF and F) based on a panel of media experts prior to the draft.
